Control the shooting conditions first
Whether an ID photo passes often depends on shooting conditions, not post-processing. Use a plain background, face the camera straight on, and shoot in even indoor light. Avoid backlight and side light that cast shadows on the face.
Clear edges and an unobstructed face are the prerequisite for background replacement later. Complex backgrounds or angled faces make processing noticeably harder.
Check the photo type before changing the background
Front-facing portraits on a plain background are the easiest to recolor, with faster processing and cleaner edges.
For photos with complex backgrounds, crop or cut out the subject first, then change the background color to avoid leftover colors around the edges.
Verify size and format before exporting
Different scenarios require different sizes and background colors, such as 1-inch and 2-inch, or white, blue, and red backgrounds. Confirm the target use case before exporting.
Choose a common format when exporting and keep a backup of the original image to avoid quality loss from repeated processing.
